WBCM SUCCESS STORY The Women Business Center of Mississippi is proud to share a story of success that recently occurred with one of its female business owners. Ms. Lorene Harper, a nurse who had been taking care of the sick for more than 25 years had been trying to set up a business for some time when she became a client of the Center. “Things were moving at a snail’s pace before I came here in July of 2016” Ms. Harper said. “Less than a year later I have proudly opened my doors and is serving the community, thanks to the one-on-one attention I got from the Women Business Center of Mississippi” she added. L. Harper Health Services supplies Nurses, Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs), Homemakers and Companions to nursing homes, hospitals, personal care homes, and private patients. Jackson, MS – The U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Mississippi District Office is pleased to announce the opening of a new Women’s Business Center (WBC) in Jackson, MS.  The SBA in support of women entrepreneurship is awarding a grant to the Mississippi Minority Business Alliance, Inc. to staff a Women’s Business Center in Jackson, Mississippi. The mission of the Center is to promote strong communities by providing women and men with business tools necessary to achieve self-reliance. The WBC will serve entrepreneurs who wish to start or expand a business and will focus on assisting disadvantaged persons and minorities in addressing challenges associated with starting and running a business. Services, including business counseling, workshops, business plan development, and assistance in securing financing are the primary areas of expertise that will be offered.
